Hosted nine times a year in different parts of the city, Sunday Streets closes large stretches of road to invite citizens to use alternative modes of transportation and engage in community and physical activities. In addition, health and non-profit groups join Sunday Streets to provide valuable information to participants and conduct activities ranging from dance to yoga.
On September 28, 2014, Sunday Streets will close a strip of road in the Excelsior neighborhood from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The closure will be hosted in conjunction with the Excelsior Festival, which shares art and music in the community. Visitors are invited to bike, skate, or walk the event to take in the festivities and learn about local businesses and artists.
